Lung Saskatchewan Thanks Past Ministers, Welcomes New Appointments

Submitted by sdriedger on 7 November 2024

Lung Saskatchewan extends its sincere gratitude to Honourable Everett Hindley (2023–2024) and Honourable Paul Merriman (2020–2023) for their service as Ministers of Health. A key accomplishment for Lung Saskatchewan, with their support, was the unanimous passage of the Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Amendment Act (Bill 147) in November 2023. This legislation raised the minimum age for purchasing tobacco and vaping products from 18 to 19, and strengthened advertising restrictions to protect youth across the province. It was a pleasure working with both Ministers, and we extend our best wishes as they move ahead.

We also extend our congratulations to Honourable Jeremy Cockrill on his appointment as Minister of Health, and Honourable Lori Carr on her appointment as Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors, and Rural and Remote Health. We also thank Honourable Tim McLeod for his previous work as Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors, and Rural and Remote Health.  We look forward to working together, with our sector partners, to advance lung health and improve the well-being of Saskatchewan people.
