Youth4Change applauds the Saskatchewan Government: Minimum Age Increase to 19 for Tobacco and Vapour Product Purchases
Effective February 1, 2024, the minimum age for purchasing tobacco and vapour products in Saskatchewan will be raised from 18 to 19 years. This significant change is the result of collaborative efforts between Lung Saskatchewan, Youth4Change, and other health partners.
In 2023, Youth4Change, working alongside youth advocates from across the province, championed this initiative to the Saskatchewan government. We believe this age increase will play a crucial role in safeguarding our youth and supporting schools in managing product usage on their premises.
For the General Public:
-
Starting February 1, 2024, you must be 19 years or older to purchase tobacco and vapour products.
-
A government-issued ID with a photograph, date of birth, and signature (e.g., passport or driver's license) is required for age verification.
Thank you to everyone who played a role in advocating for this positive change. Let's continue working together to create a healthier and safer environment for our youth!
