Nursing Students at Lung Saskatchewan
Lung Saskatchewan had the honour of hosting nine nursing students over the past three months to fulfill their practicum requirements, with two from the University of Saskatchewan and seven from Saskatchewan Polytechnic. The nursing students were divided into groups, focusing on areas such as patient education, health promotion, and patient support programs.
The group assigned to the Health Promotion team actively participated in the Youth4Change and Saskatchewan Quits programs. They conducted a vaping presentation for students at King George Elementary School to educate them on the dangers of vaping, and additionally, they made significant contributions to the content and marketing efforts of the Saskatchewan Quits program. A special highlight was their involvement in the passing of Bill 147 at the Saskatchewan Legislature in November.
Another group, assigned to the Community Care team, delved into learning and research on inhaled delivery devices. Applying their newfound skills, they actively participated in various Saskatoon Health Authority clinics, and numerous community fairs, and engaged with Lung Saskatchewan’s support group members online. They also organized a student peer-to-peer teaching event and completed many respiratory training sessions.
Lung Saskatchewan is grateful for the dedication and hard work of all the nursing students and their instructors. We wish you the best in your nursing careers!
