Feisty Pickles Pickleball Tournament
The energy was electric and the competition fierce at the inaugural Feisty Pickles Pickleball Tournament, held on Saturday, April 5th at the Saskatoon Kinsmen Henk Ruys Soccer Centre. With over 50 teams, a packed gym, and an unbeatable spirit of fun, this event was a success—on and off the court.
This tournament wasn’t just about pickleball. It was about making sure Saskatchewan residents don’t have to choose between financial stability and a second chance at life. Players of all skill levels brought their A-game to raise almost $30,000 in support of Breathing Space, a first of it kind facility in Canada, providing a home away from home for lung transplant patients during their recovery.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our players and supporters, who rallied their networks, collected pledges, and showed what it means to play with purpose. We are so grateful that our players raised funds by collecting pledges and we’re just shy of $10,000—and counting. A heartfelt thank you to every team.

Breathing Space
Did you know, as a Saskatchewan resident, that if you need a lung transplant you will be required to travel out of province at your own expense? You will need to live away from home for three months or more? A caregiver will need to be with you the entire time? None of these expenses are covered by health insurance. Some people choose not to go, simply because they can’t afford to.
No one should have to refuse a life saving lung transplant due to financial barriers.
These funds will go towards supporting the vital creation of “Breathing Space”. Breathing Space will be the first facility of its kind in Canada. It will provide a sanctuary for lung transplant patients and their families, giving them much needed “breathing space” in their fight to regain their strength and vitality. Lung Saskatchewan is raising funds to support Saskatchewan lung transplant patients.
