Humidity
Your lungs need warm, moist air to work properly. Our nose and throat take in the air we breathe and add warmth and moisture. The CPAP machine blows cool, dry air, which can irritate our airway. This can result in a dry or stuffy nose, dry throat, excessive sneezing, nasal drip, runny eyes, sinus headaches and even nosebleeds. Using a heated humidifier and heated tubing with your CPAP will help prevent these problems from happening. Read more about humidifiers in the Sleep Apnea Handbook.
