Lung Cancer and Radon Mitigation Financial Assistance

This financial assistance program provides support to anyone on a lung cancer journey, and/or those in need of radon mitigation in addition to supporting funding education and awareness about the dangers of radon. This will ensure families who face these unique challenges have access to a compassionate support fund when no other options exist.

This program is made possible through Luana’s Legacy Fund.

Who can Apply? 

  • Individuals on a lung cancer journey along with their primary caregivers
  • Individuals who have had radon mitigation completed for their single detached primary residence from a Canadian-National Radon Proficiency Program (C-NRPP) certified radon professional 

Eligibility Requirements 

  • You must be a Saskatchewan resident
  • Your expenses must have been paid withing the past 12 months
  • Your application and all supporting documentation must be completed in full

What Expenses May be Reimbursed? 

  • Happy CoupleMedical expenses
  • Travel and accommodations 
  • Fees and other eligible expenses
  • Radon mitigation reimbursements (maximum $500 or $1000 if there is a lung cancer diagnosis)

How do I apply? 

Your request won’t be reviewed until we receive all required documents. 

Step 1: Complete the online application. Lung Cancer and Radon Mitigation Financial Assistance Application Form

Step 2: Upload your receipts when completing your online application. We do not accept quotes or estimates. 

Step 3: Submit a Health Care Provider Referral Form
This is not required if you are applying for radon mitigation and no one in the home has or had has lung cancer. 
*This is only required if you are on a lung cancer journey. 

  • Primary caregivers may also apply. 
  • Upload it with your online application, or 
  • Your provider can email it direction to caringbreaths@lungsask.ca

Step 4: Upload your Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment (NOA)
You will be asked to upload copy of your most recent Canada Revenue Agency NOA for all adults living in the home.

 

Applications are prioritized based on medical and financial need and are subject to available funding.  Please allow up to 90 days for the review process to be completed. You will be contacted by email once a decision has been made. Any reimbursements will be provided via cheque and mailed to the mailing address provided in the application form.
