Vaping

Vaping is the inhalation of a complex aerosol produced by an electronic cigarette or vaping device. This process occurs when an internal heating element warms an e-liquid solution typically containing nicotine, humectants (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), and chemical flavorings. While frequently mischaracterized as a clean, harmless water vapor, extensive scientific evidence confirms that the heating process triggers pyrolysis (the thermal decomposition of baseline ingredients into toxic byproducts). The substance inhaled and exhaled during vaping contains heavy metals, volatile organic compounds, and known carcinogens, presenting substantial acute and long-term pulmonary health risks akin to traditional tobacco products.
