Application Requirements
Please read the Application Guidelines carefully before you complete the online application form. <link to page once it is created> Ensure you have all supporting documents before starting your application. No late documentation will be accepted after the deadline.

APPLICATION DEADLINE
The deadline for the submission of this application is September 30th of the calendar year.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
You are eligible to apply for financial assistance if you are:
- Enrolled as a full-time student at the post-secondary level in a program of study that is a minimum of two academic years at an accredited university, college and pursuing a certificate, diploma or degree.
- Studying a branch of the health sciences such as: nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, lab technology, physiotherapy, dietetics, nutrition, medicine, health administration and public health policy.
AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Individual scholarship awards are provided up to the amount of $3,000 and qualified individuals may only be allocated one scholarship per academic year.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Scholarships are provided for the academic year that begins in the fall term (September) of the year of the application.
- Applicants must provide the following supporting documentation with their online application form:
- A Letter of Personal Introduction to the Jim and Marjorie Burnett Bursary Committee (minimum of 500 words, maximum of 1,000 words) that includes the following:
- Tell us why you chose your field of study.
- Demonstrate your contribution and involvement in the lung health community. Preference will be given to those individuals showing commitment to / involvement in lung health.
- Letter of Reference from an Instructor.
- Letter of Reference from a Community Member.
- Confirmation of Enrollment – Confirmation of enrollment can be provided through a letter from the Registrar’s Office or Faculty Head that clearly states you are registered as a full-time student in current year of study.
- Official Transcript of your most recent marks or record of studies.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
When assessing applications, the Jim and Marjorie Burnett Bursary Committee uses the following criteria:
- Evidence of suitability and commitment to field of study.
- Demonstrated academic merit and performance.
NOTIFICATION
A list of successful applicants will be posted on the Lung Saskatchewan website. All applicants will receive written notification of the Committee’s decision regarding their individual application.
CHECKLIST
Ensure you have the following documents scanned and ready to upload before starting the application. (Matthew - do we have a preference for file type? Word or PDF?
- Letter of Personal Introduction (minimum 500 words, maximum 1,000 words).
- Letter of Reference from an Instructor.
- Letter of Reference from a Community Member.
- Original Official Transcript (signed and stamped from the Registrar’s Office) from your present or most recent academic program.
- Confirmation of enrollment as a full-time student for current year of study.
