As of June 1, there will only be three home oxygen companies in Saskatchewan:

• Careica Health
• Medigas
• Prairie Oxygen

Vitalaire clients will all be transitioned over to Prairie Oxygen. See new logo above for reference.

Please ensure that you check off the correct vendor on the forms. Do not use old forms with the names of previous supplier names (such as RANA or Provincial) as this causes confusion.

SAIL will share new forms with only three suppliers in the next month. If you need new forms, email SAIL at EHB@health.gov.sk.ca

Renewals:

SAIL renewal notifications are now being sent to the client and to the home oxygen company. Companies will request an order from the physician for home oxygen testers to complete testing. These letters have been coming late due to a post-COVID backlog. 

Please let your clients know that a letter will show up in the mail but to not worry - the home oxygen companies will organize what testing is needed (or not!).

Results:

Forward all results to the vendor who will ensure arrange the  SAIL application from the physician.

Increased testing referrals for those with long-term oxygen:

Testers have reported that they are seeing increased referrals for people who are already on long-term oxygen.

If you are being asked to test someone you know has long-term oxygen or has been on oxygen for a long time, please check with the client's home oxygen company or SAIL to determine if testing is needed or if the referral was a mistake.

We are so excited to announce that Home Oxygen Tester Training has transitioned to an online, independent-learning module that can be taken anytime.

Anyone can take the course for 2 HOURS of continuing education credit but, as always, only Saskatchewan Health Authority employees will receive home oxygen tester numbers and certification.

If you are a current tester, you can recertify by completing this online course.
