In 2020, The Lung Association partnered with the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) and the Students Commission of Canada (SCC) to apply for funding to expand our Youth4Change program. 

We are thrilled to report that out of over 1,000 applicants, and three levels of intense stages of application, our project was chosen by LEAP | Pecaut Centre for Social Impact as one of their top 11 national social ventures for funding! 

Youth4Change aims to bring together youth, civic leaders, and health care professionals in First Nations communities to reduce and prevent commercial tobacco and vaping use. Our goal is to change the pattern of tobacco, vaping, and cannabis use in First Nations and Indigenous Communities by enacting and empowering youth.

We are excited to introduce you to the new addition to our Lung Family, Apeksha Heendeniya, our Youth4Change Coordinator to lead this work in Saskatchewan.

Youth4Change is an advocacy and education initiative targeting youth and young adults to reduce smoking and vaping rates within First Nations communities.

Are you creative and passionate about health promotion? Then we want you to join our team! The Health Promotion Coordinator will build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders to increase awareness of, and support for, our radon and lung health awareness initiatives. 

Radon mitigation will now be included in The Provincial Government’s Home Renovation Tax Credit. The Provincial Government’s Home Renovation Tax Credit allows home owners to claim a 10.5 percent tax credit on up to $20,000 of eligible home renovation expenses including radon mitigation expenses.
