As we approach summer and the inevitable celebration of Canada Day on July 1st, we reflect on how fortunate we are to live in Canada, but simultaneously acknowledge that we need to do better as a nation in our efforts towards reconciliation.

As we joined friends, family, and colleagues in sorrow last week at the discovery of 215 children at the Kamloops residential school, The Lung Association of Saskatchewan affirms our commitment to First Nations and Metis communities. We will continue to listen to the stories of our communities and their ancestors, our role in the past, present, and future and will continue to reaffirm our relationship with one another.

Youth4Change National Vape Flavours Campaign

Our Saskatchewan Youth4Change group has gone national! Youth and health allies from across Canada are coming together to call on the government to regulate all vape flavours (including mint/menthol) to protect Canadian kids. They have developed an advocacy website and a social media campaign, and they need your help as the vape industry has come out strong on this issue.

Vaping is a youth issue. 84% of people who have vaped are under the age of 25. Flavoured vape products are addicting a new generation of Canadian youth and kids. Vape and tobacco industries promote mint/menthol as adult flavours, but latest data reveals mint as the second most popular flavour among Canadian youth.

Saskatchewan Quits & World No Tobacco Day

The Saskatchewan Quits personal challenge took place throughout the month of May to support Saskatchewan residents who wish to quit or cut back their smoking. We wrapped up the challenge on May 31st on World No Tobacco Day.
